Soccer Game Preview: Fremont vs. Wilcox

Fremont is 2-8 against Wilcox since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Fremont Firebirds will venture away from home to challenge the Wilcox Chargers at 6:00 p.m. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Fremont is looking to tack another W on to their season record, something they couldn't quite do against Los Gatos on Friday. Neither Fremont nor Los Gatos could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 1-1 draw.

Fremont's goal came courtesy of Joel Robles, who's now up to two this season.

Meanwhile, Wilcox didn't have quite enough to beat Palo Alto on Friday and fell 2-1. While losing is never fun, the Chargers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 264th, while the Vikings are ranked 87th).

Fremont's draw gives them a new season record of 3-3-1. As for Wilcox, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-2-2.

Fremont suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Wilcox when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Can Fremont avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
