Football Recap: Deja Smith Key Part of Team Effort in Cavaliers Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Saint Joseph, Serra was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They came out on top against the St. Anthony Saints by a score of 13-6. The score was all tied up 6-6 at the break, but the Cavaliers were the (much) better team in the second half.

Serra's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Deja Smith, who threw for 180 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 80% of her passes, and also rushed for 43 yards.

Serra didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Mylah Bradford and Smith.

Serra's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for St. Anthony, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.

Coincidentally, Serra and St. Anthony will both be playing St. Mary's Academy the next time they take the field. The Cavaliers will host the Belles at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, while the Saints will host them at 3:00 p.m. on the 29th.
