South Columbus proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by three) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Fairmont Golden Tornadoes 3-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-1 on September 9th.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day South Columbus got the one that really mattered. The final score came out to 25-20, 18-25, 25-13, 12-25, 15-9.

When it comes to explaining why Fairmont lost, don't look at Jerrian Taylor. Despite the final result, she had 17 digs and one assist. Taylor is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last ten games she's played. Another player making a difference was Layla Hunt, who had 14 assists and nine aces.

South Columbus' win bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Fairmont, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-12.

South Columbus has already played their next match, a 3-1 victory against East Bladen on the 29th. As for Fairmont, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against West Bladen on the 30th.
