Softball Game Preview: West Genesee Wildcats vs. East Syracuse-Minoa Spartans

The West Genesee Wildcats are taking a road trip to challenge the East Syracuse-Minoa Spartans at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

West Genesee is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 12 runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Liverpool on Thursday. They fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 3-2. The defeat continues a trend for the Wildcats in their meetings with the Warriors: they've now lost four in a row.

West Genesee saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kyra Lynch, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Lynch is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season.

East Syracuse-Minoa couldn't beat Fulton on Thursday even though they stacked four runs on them in the fifth inning. The Spartans came up short against the Red Raiders, falling 13-6. Spartans fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Red Raiders since on Thursday.

West Genesee now has a losing record of 1-2. As for East Syracuse-Minoa, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Everything went West Genesee's way against East Syracuse-Minoa when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as West Genesee made off with a 17-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
