Basketball Game Preview: Durango Demons vs. Montrose Red Hawks

Durango is 2-8 against Montrose since February of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Durango Demons will be playing in front of their home fans against the Montrose Red Hawks at 7:00 p.m.

Last Saturday, Durango was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 60-55 to Palisade.

Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Montrose ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Palisade, sneaking past 45-43. The victory almost wasn't to be: the Red Hawks were down 21-5 in the second quarter.

Durango better keep an eye on Kaleb Ferguson. He was instrumental in Montrose's win, going 6 of 12 to rack up 14 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. Ferguson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was CJ Rocco, who posted six points along with nine boards and three blocks.

The win made it two in a row for Montrose and bumps their season record up to 16-4. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points over those games. As for Durango, their loss dropped their record down to 13-7.
