Softball Recap: Brownstown Central Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

There's no place like home for Brownstown Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Eastern Musketeers on Thursday. That's more bragging rights for the Braves, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Shyla Steele tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.

On the hitting side, Brooke Meahl and Olivia Justice did most of the damage at the plate: Meahl scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4, while Justice went 2-for-4 with five RBI and two doubles. That's the most stolen bases Meahl has posted since back in April of 2024. Alex Davidson was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Brownstown Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Eastern only posted an OBP of .263.

Brownstown Central pushed their record up to 1-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.4 runs over those games. As for Eastern, they now also have a losing record of 1-2.

Coming up, Brownstown Central will venture away from home to square off against West Washington at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Eastern, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Borden at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
