Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Morehead). They were the clear victors by an 18-1 margin over the T.W. Andrews Red Raiders on Friday. With that win, the Panthers brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Tanner Rippey and Jacob Sands made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Rippey struck out six batters over two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Sands tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Rippey has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in seven consecutive appearances. At the plate, Rippey scored three runs while going 2-for-2, while Sands went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. The dominant performance also gave Rippey a new career-high in doubles (two).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ethan Horton, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jackson Silvers, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Morehead kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 8.8.

Morehead's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-7. As for T.W. Andrews, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Morehead beat T.W. Andrews by a score of 15-0 later that day.
