Recap: Oaks The Mighty Oaks vs. Springwood Wildcats
The Oaks The Mighty Oaks suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Monday. They were outmatched by Springwood on the road and fell 85-47. Oaks was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-23.
Oaks lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ralph Paul, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Joey Allen, who scored 12 points.
Leading Springwood to victory were Micah Thomas and Daniel Westbrook. Thomas scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and six assists, while Westbrook dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. Thomas has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 12 times he's played. Another player making a difference was CJ Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Oaks' defeat dropped their record down to 12-4. As for Springwood, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-4.
Oaks will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Southern Prep Academy at 3:00 p.m. Southern Prep Academy is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Springwood, they will head out on the road to square off against Glenwood at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Alabama (Glenwood is ranked 101st, while Springwood is ranked 92nd).
