            Basketball Preview: Wimberley Texans vs. Giddings Buffaloes        
        
		
        
        
            The Wimberley Texans will square off against the Giddings Buffaloes at 6:30  p.m.  on Friday. Wimberley knows how to get  points on the board -- the  squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight matchups -- so hopefully Giddings likes a good challenge.
Giddings is facing Wimberley at the wrong time: Wimberley suffered their first home loss of the  season on Saturday and they're likely out for redemption. They fell  66-56 to the Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Texans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage  in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings  (they are ranked 241st, while the Tigers are ranked 101st).

 Wimberley's  defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of  Gavin Olmer, who  almost  dropped  a double-double on 14 points and nine  rebounds, and  Holden Crawford, who  went 7 of 14  on his way to 18  points. That's the most points  Crawford has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of  Reece Wortham, who  went 5 of 7  on his way to 11  points.
 Meanwhile, Giddings was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight  loss. They were dealt  a  69-42 defeat at the hands of Fayetteville.
 Wimberley's loss  ended  a  six-game streak of wins at home  dating back to last season and  dropped them to 15-6. As for Giddings, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-8.
