Softball Game Preview: DeSoto County Bulldogs vs. Braden River Pirates

The DeSoto County Bulldogs will venture away from home to square off against the Braden River Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. DeSoto County will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Last Tuesday, DeSoto County made easy work of Babcock and carried off an 8-1 win. Considering the Bulldogs have won four games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Caleigh Jo Duke spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Juliette Wolcott was excellent, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Braden River lost 20-3 to Manatee on Wednesday. The Pirates have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

DeSoto County's victory bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Braden River, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-11.

Braden River's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: DeSoto County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .352.
