Basketball Recap: Thunder Nelson Key Part of a Team Effort in Vikings Win

Bertrand won against Southern Valley last Thursday with 60 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Saturday. The Bertrand Vikings came out on top against South Loup by a score of 60-51. For the Vikings, this counts as revenge for the 60-49 victory South Loup walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2024.

Bertrand's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Thunder Nelson led the charge by dropping a double-double on 16 points and 13 boards. The dominant performance gave Nelson a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcus Hernandez, who posted 15 points and six rebounds.

Bertrand pushed their record up to 9-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.7 points per game. As for South Loup, with the loss, they broke their seven-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-3.
