Recap: Cocoa Beach Minutemen vs. Melbourne Central Catholic Hustlers
The Cocoa Beach Minutemen fell victim to the Melbourne Central Catholic Hustlers''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They had to suffer through a rough 38-0 loss at the hands of the Hustlers. Cocoa Beach was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Melbourne Central Catholic apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
Melbourne Central Catholic can attribute much of their success to Joseph Allen, who threw for 201 yards and two touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Ezra Engle got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Cocoa Beach's loss was their fifth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 2-7. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 12.8 points per game. As for Melbourne Central Catholic, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-2.
Cocoa Beach will head out on the road to face off against Stanton at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Stanton will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last. As for Melbourne Central Catholic, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Halifax Academy at 7:00 p.m. Halifax Academy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
