Softball Recap: Ballard Victorious

Ballard won the last time they faced Henry County and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Bruins walked away with a 9-4 win over the Wildcats. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bruins.

Shelby James was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Peyton Downey was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Aubrie Newton, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Ballard's victory bumped their record up to 21-5. As for Henry County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-12.

Looking ahead, Ballard will host North Oldham at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Henry County, they will head out to challenge South Oldham at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Dragons have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season.
