Basketball Recap: St. Francis Spartans vs. IC Catholic Prep Knights
The St. Francis Spartans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fifth straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 48-47 to IC Catholic Prep. The game was a 25-25 toss-up at halftime, but St. Francis couldn't quite close it out.
When it comes to explaining why St. Francis lost, one person who can't be blamed is Dolly Smith. Despite the final result, she scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. It was the first time this season that Smith pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was T?a Rubino, who scored eight points along with four steals.
St. Francis' defeat dropped their record down to 15-14. As for IC Catholic Prep, their victory bumped their record up to 20-8.
St. Francis will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Wolfpack at 6:00 p.m. Saint Ignatius College Prep is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for IC Catholic Prep, they will head out on the road to face off against the Green Wave at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Edward will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 221st, while the Knights are ranked 92nd).
