Volleyball Recap: James Wood Starts Season with Win Against Fauquier

James Wood took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Thursday. They blew past the Fauquier Falcons 3-0. The Colonels are really starting to get used to good results now that the team has won 13 straight dating back to last season.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: James Wood took every set by at least 11 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-9, 25-14, 25-9.

Kennedy Spaid paced James Wood's offense, picking up 14 kills. Spaid got some help from Kylee Plumb and her 24 assists. Brenna Corbin controlled things from the service line, finishing with seven aces.

Fauquier is on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. James Wood will face off against rival Handley at 10:25 a.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Fauquier is set to square off against their familiar foe Skyline at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
