Baseball Recap: South Walton Picks Up 12th Consecutive Win

South Walton had already won 11 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it 12 on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Crestview Bulldogs as they made off with a 12-0 victory. Considering the Seahawks have won 15 matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Jace Cunningham made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two hits in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-1. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in February.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Frank Wells, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Jackson Perkins, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

South Walton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Crestview only posted an OBP of .222.

South Walton's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 22-3. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Crestview, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-14.

Coming up, South Walton will challenge Pensacola at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Seahawks surely won't give up without a fight. As for Crestview, they have already played their next game, a 15-0 defeat against Mosley on the 11th.
