Bloomfield Hills came into Tuesday's matchup looking for another win against Groves, but Harlem Simpson wouldn't allow it. The Groves Falcons came out on top against the Bloomfield Hills Black Hawks by a score of 64-56 on Tuesday which was due in part to Simpson, who almost dropped a double-double with 22 points and nine rebounds. The game was her sixth in a row with at least 15 points.
The team also got some help courtesy of Sophie Schwanik, who posted 11 points. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.
Bloomfield Hills' loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brielle Brooks, who almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine boards. Those nine rebounds gave Brooks a new career-high. Briana Young was another key player, en route to 19 points and seven boards.
Groves' victory bumped their record up to 6-14. As for Bloomfield Hills, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-11.
Coming up, Groves will head out on the road to face off against Regina at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Regina will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Groves surely won't give up without a fight. Bloomfield Hills does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
