Basketball Recap: River Dell Comes Up Short

River Dell was the 55-48 winner over West Essex when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The River Dell Golden Hawks were just a bucket shy of victory on Saturday and fell 61-60 to the West Essex Knights. The Golden Hawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, River Dell still got an impressive performance from David Nunez, who went 9 of 17 en route to 26 points. Another player making a difference was Pat Sweeny, who went 5 for 10 on his way to 12 points and six assists.

River Dell's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for West Essex, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-4.

River Dell wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 57-41 defeat against Pascack Hills on the 21st. As for West Essex, they will take on University at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
