Football Recap: Anselmo-Merna Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Anselmo-Merna can now relate to. They took a 28-20 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sandhills/Thedford Knights on Friday. It was the first time this season that the Coyotes let down their fans at home.

Despite the loss, Anselmo-Merna still got an impressive performance from Dane Duryea, who rushed for 155 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 68 yards and one TD. Duryea's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his sixth straight game with at least 125 rushing yards.

Maurice Robinson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Sandhills/Thedford, rushing for 219 yards and four scores. Robinson also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making 11 total tackles and defending one pass.

The loss was their first at home , dropping their record down to 8-2. As for Sandhills/Thedford, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-2.

Anselmo-Merna does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sandhills/Thedford, they will challenge St. Mary's on Friday. The Knights will need to watch out since the Cardinals have now posted at least 31 points in their last nine games.
