Baseball Recap: Southwest's Luck Changes for the Better on Thursday

Southwest had lost five straight, but after bumping their record up to 3-9 on Thursday that streak is in the rearview. They came out on top against the Exeter Tigers by a score of 5-2. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Trojans also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2025.

As for Exeter, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

For Exeter's part, Cason Antle put in work no matter where he played. He struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). That's the fewest earned runs Antle has allowed since back in May of 2025. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Antle wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brexton Bowman, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Coming up, Southwest will look to defend their home field on Monday against Lamar at 4:30 p.m. Exeter has already played their next contest (against Non Varsity Opponent), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
