John Austin Bender Game Report: vs Springfield

John Austin Bender, Hammond's leader in stolen bases on the season, led the team again on Friday. Bender scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, good enough for us to rate the performance as the best he's had all season long.

Bender's strong effort led Hammond over Springfield and he'll get a chance to do so again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Tornadoes have been struggling on the road and they will enter the matchup having lost 11 straight away games dating back to last season. Will Bender and the rest of the team be able to turn things around? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
