Wheeling Park fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Weir on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Red Riders by a score of 8-7. The Patriots' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Grace Tamburin made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Brenna Tipton, who scored two runs while going 2-for-5.

Wheeling Park's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Weir, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-0.

Looking ahead, Wheeling Park will venture away from home to face off against Parkersburg South at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The last three games Parkersburg South has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Weir, they will host Martins Ferry at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Purple Riders will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Red Riders surely won't give up without a fight.
