Softball Game Preview: West Jessamine Colts vs. Paducah Tilghman Blue Tornado

The West Jessamine Colts will take on the Paducah Tilghman Blue Tornado at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (West Jessamine 4, Paducah Tilghman 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.

On Tuesday, West Jessamine needed a bit of extra time to put away Edmonson County. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over the Wildcats. Winning may never get old, but the Colts sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Paige Hobgood was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Emerson Collier, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4.

Meanwhile, Paducah Tilghman has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging four runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Monday. They came up short against Fort Walton Beach, falling 11-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Blue Tornado have suffered since May 11, 2024.

Sophie Key was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Camrynn McMinn, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

West Jessamine's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Paducah Tilghman, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-5 record this season.
