Softball Game Preview: Midland Legacy Rebels vs. Midland Bulldogs

Midland Legacy is 2-8 against Midland since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Rebels will be playing at home against the Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Midland Legacy will bounce into Friday's matchup after beating San Angelo Central, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Rebels blew past the Bobcats 15-5 on Friday.

Meanwhile, Midland got themselves on the board against San Angelo Central on Tuesday, but San Angelo Central never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 7-0 margin over the Bobcats. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Bobcats recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

The result came thanks to Bree Battenfelder's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kamryn Weir was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Marley Porter was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Midland's victory bumped their record up to 24-5. As for Midland Legacy, their win bumped their record up to 15-10.

Midland Legacy came out on top in a nail-biter against Midland in their previous meeting back in March, sneaking past 5-3. Will the Rebels repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
