Softball Game Preview: Spoto Spartans vs. Plant City Raiders

Spoto hasn't had much luck against Plant City recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Spoto is taking a road trip to face off against Plant City at 7:00 p.m. Spoto has given up an average of 10.6 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Spoto is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 11 runs on March 13th, they were much more limited against Robinson on Saturday. They came up short against the Knights, falling 19-1.

Meanwhile, Plant City entered their game against Durant on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Plant City fell 7-4 to Durant.

Kyleigh Gibbs spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, Kyleigh Meiers made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played.

Spoto now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Plant City, their loss dropped their record down to 11-4.

Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Spoto has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .434. However, it's not like Plant City struggles in that department as they've averaged .489. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Spoto might still be hurting after the 18-0 defeat they got from Plant City in their previous meeting back in February. Can Spoto avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
