Basketball Recap: Palm Beach Gardens Beats Palm Beach Central for Their Third Straight Victory

Palm Beach Gardens entered their tilt with Palm Beach Central on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Palm Beach Central Broncos by a score of 60-48. Given the Gators' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 77th, while the Broncos are ranked 254th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Palm Beach Gardens got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Brandi Brown out in front who went 5 for 6 en route to 12 points in addition to six assists and five steals. Brown is becoming a predictor of Palm Beach Gardens' success: when she posts at least five steals the team is 8-2 (and 2-3 when she doesn't). Another player making a difference was Jaliyah Magwood, who posted eight points and three steals.

Brown wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Palm Beach Gardens was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Palm Beach Central only posted nine assists.

Despite the loss, Palm Beach Central still got an impressive performance from Izabelle Vilmont, who went 7 of 14 on her way to 17 points and five boards. Vilmont is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Triniti Crouse was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Palm Beach Gardens pushed their record up to 10-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.7 points per game. As for Palm Beach Central, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-11.

Palm Beach Gardens will head out on the road to square off against Dwyer at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Palm Beach Central, they will be taking part in a tournament against Boca Raton at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
