Basketball Recap: Easley Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Kate Kelley and Kimbel Leach

Easley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 49-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Berea Bulldogs. One positive for the Green Wave, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Easley's loss came despite strong showings from Kimbel Leach and Kate Kelley. Leach almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds, while Kelley posted 12 points and five steals. The dominant performance gave Leach a new career-high in rebounds.

Even though they lost, Easley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 17 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Easley's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Berea, their win ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-2.

Easley didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 33-25 victory against Pickens on the 13th. As for Berea, they will be playing at home against Southside at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
