Soccer Recap: Independence Takes a Loss

Independence lost against Providence back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Patriots came up short against the Panthers, falling 3-0. While losing is never fun, Independence can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 283rd, while Providence are ranked 39th).

Independence is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8. As for Providence, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-5.

Looking ahead, Independence will square off against East Mecklenburg at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Providence, they will face off against Rocky River at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Providence will be up against Rocky River's rather soft defense (which has allowed 7.36 goals per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
