Conor McPherson leads Carver Montgomery to victory over Crestview

Recap: Carver Montgomery Wolverines vs. Crestview Bulldogs

Even though the Crestview Bulldogs scored an imposing 55 points on Friday, the Carver Montgomery Wolverines still came out on top. Carver Montgomery walked away with a 62-55 victory over Crestview. Given Carver Montgomery's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 117th in Alabama, while Crestview is ranked 247th in Florida), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Conor McPherson, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. The match was his 15th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Zander Frazier, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and three steals.

Despite the loss, Crestview still got an impressive performance from Makhi Jones, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds. Jones scored a full 32.7% of Crestview's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Josiah Klauser, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.

Carver Montgomery's win bumped their record up to 9-11. As for Crestview, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-7.

Carver Montgomery will be playing in front of their home fans against Lanier at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lanier has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Crestview's road trip will continue as they head out to face Milton at 7:00 p.m. on January 4th. Milton will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
