Basketball Game Preview: Orangeburg-Wilkinson Bruins vs. Conway Tigers

Having just played yesterday, the Orangeburg-Wilkinson Bruins will jump right back in to play the Conway Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Orangeburg-Wilkinson is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.4 points per game this season.

Orangeburg-Wilkinson is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of South Carolina's top teams: Oceanside Collegiate Academy, who was ranked third at the time (Orangeburg-Wilkinson was ranked 19th). Orangeburg-Wilkinson was beaten by Oceanside Collegiate Academy 52-19 on Friday. The Bruins' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Jordan McGahee was Orangeburg-Wilkinson's leading scorer, having posted five points. McGahee also led the team in rebounds with six. Keith Smith took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.

Meanwhile, Conway came tearing into Friday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 64-56 win over the Braves.

Orangeburg-Wilkinson's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 14-4. As for Conway, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-3.

Orangeburg-Wilkinson came up short against Conway when the teams last played back in December of 2022, falling 61-51. Can Orangeburg-Wilkinson avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
