Basketball Game Preview: Lovington Wildcats vs. Carlsbad Cavemen/Cavegirls

Lovington hasn't had much luck against Carlsbad recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Lovington Wildcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Carlsbad Cavemen/Cavegirls at 5:30 p.m.

Lovington is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New Mexico's top teams: Clovis, who was ranked tenth at the time (Lovington was ranked 20th). Lovington took a 68-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Clovis on Saturday. The matchup was a 33-33 toss-up at halftime, but Lovington couldn't quite close it out.

Meanwhile, Carlsbad had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They pulled ahead with a 28-27 photo finish over Las Cruces on Saturday.

Carlsbad's victory bumped their record up to 14-5. As for Lovington, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 11-7.

Lovington skirted past Carlsbad 39-36 in their previous matchup on Tuesday. Will Lovington repeat their success, or does Carlsbad have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
