Baseball Recap: Weymouth Wins Going Away Against Framingham

Weymouth never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They blew past the Framingham Flyers 9-0. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Weymouth got a great performance from Liam Barr as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Barr has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Devin Kelsch was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Johnny Pires, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Weymouth was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Weymouth's win bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Framingham, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Weymouth will head out to face off against St. John's Prep at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Wildcats surely won't give up without a fight. As for Framingham, they will face off against Nipmuc Regional at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Flyers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
