Baseball Recap: Hoover Comes Up Short

Hoover fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Duarte on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 6-5. The Tornados' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it seven in a row.

Alex Weimar was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February. Kieran Sinta was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

Hoover's defeat dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Duarte, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hoover will square off against Burbank at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Burbank's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Hoover's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Duarte, they will take on Rio Hondo Prep at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Duarte will need to watch out since Rio Hondo Prep has now posted at least ten runs in their last three games.
