Cardinal Newman hadn't done well against Suncoast recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Crusaders were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Chargers. The Crusaders were shut out 3-0 the last time they took on the Chargers, so the Crusaders were just returning the favor.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Cardinal Newman took every set by at least 11 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-9, 25-12.

Ava Castro paced Cardinal Newman's offense, picking up 11 kills. Castro got some help from Dayana Acevedo and her 19 assists. Lyla Buser and Olivia Peterson kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with four aces apiece.

Cardinal Newman has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.
