Pineywoods Community Academy waltzed into their game on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They claimed a resounding 56-27 victory over the Newton Eagles. With that win, the Timberwolves brought their scoring average up to 50.1 points per game.

Pineywoods Community Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Gunner Carnes led the charge by going 8 of 13 en route to 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaziel Reyes, who posted 13 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Pineywoods Community Academy is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-12 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.8 points per game. As for Newton, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pineywoods Community Academy will head out to challenge Pollok Central at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pollok Central is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.2 points per game this season. As for Newton, they will venture away from home to face off against Huntington at 7:30 p.m. on January 10th.
