Basketball Game Preview: Palisades Pumas vs. Myers Park Mustangs

Palisades is 0-6 against Myers Park since January of 2023 but things could change on Tuesday. The Palisades Pumas will host the Myers Park Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Palisades took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They walked away with a 50-38 win over Berry.

Palisades' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kyra Morris, who posted nine points along with five assists and five steals. Morris has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Tynilla Simpkins was another key player, putting up ten points in addition to eight boards and five steals.

Palisades smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in six consecutive games.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Myers Park). They claimed a resounding 60-10 victory over Ballantyne Ridge. With the Mustangs ahead 29-4 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Myers Park is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-11 record this season. As for Palisades, their win bumped their record up to 8-10.

Palisades came up short against Myers Park when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 42-36. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Myers Park's Amani Barner, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds.
