Football Recap: Santa Margarita Eagles vs. Inglewood Sentinels
With a playoff game on the line, Santa Margarita rose to the challenge on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Inglewood Sentinels 59-26. The Eagles' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
A big part of Santa Margarita's victory came down to the chemistry between John Gazzaniga and his top target Jack Junker. Gazzaniga threw for 343 yards and three touchdowns while completing 72% of his passes while Junker picked up 172 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Junker really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 72 yards. Another player making a difference was Trent Mosley, who gained 105 total yards and two touchdowns.
The win made it two in a row for Santa Margarita and bumps their season record up to 5-6. As for Inglewood, the defeat snapped their winning streak at ten games and leaves them with a 10-1 record.
