Baseball Recap: Kane Comes Up Short

Kane extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping them down to 1-7. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the DuBois Central Catholic Cardinals. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cardinals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-7 last Monday.

Kane saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Keller Chamberlain, who went 2-for-3 with one double. That double was Chamberlain's first of the season.

As for DuBois Central Catholic, their victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games.

On DuBois Central Catholic's side, Evan Burton was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. Burton has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Carter Himes was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Brayden Zatsick, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kane will welcome Johnsonburg at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Rams have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.5 runs per game on average), something the Wolves will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for DuBois Central Catholic, they will host Bradford at 4:15 p.m. on Friday.
