Baseball Game Preview: Wilson Wildcats vs. West Covina Bulldogs

For the second straight game, Wilson will face off against West Covina. The Wildcats will square off against the Bulldogs at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.

On Tuesday, Wilson came up short against West Covina and fell 5-2. The loss continues a trend for the Wildcats in their meetings with the Bulldogs: they've now lost three in a row.

For West Covina's part, Joaquin Diaz looked comfortable as he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Diaz has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Marcus Mayweather, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one run. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Isaac Infranca, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

West Covina kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wilson only managed four hits.

West Covina has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Wilson, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-9.
