Recap: Hall/Putnam County Red Devils vs. Princeton Tigers
The Hall/Putnam County Red Devils fell victim to the Princeton Tigers''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They had to suffer through a rough 54-0 loss at the hands of the Tigers. While losing is never fun, Hall/Putnam County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 336th, while Princeton is ranked 67th).
Princeton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but William Lott led the charge by throwing for 123 yards and two touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes, and also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Princeton also got a significant boost from Casey Etheridge, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 89 yards.
Hall/Putnam County's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 3-5. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Princeton, Newman Central Catholic, and Kewanee. As for Princeton, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 8-1.
Hall/Putnam County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Princeton has the luxury of staying home another week and will welcome Paxton-Buckley-Loda at 1:00 p.m. on October 28th. That game will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Robert Boyd-meents and Etheridge.
