Softball Recap: Fox Lane Takes a Loss

Harrison hit Fox Lane with a six-run fourth inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Foxes fell just short of the Huskies by a score of 10-9. On the bright side, the nine- run performance marked the Foxes' highest-scoring contest to date.

Sofia Rodriguez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and six unearned) runs on 11 hits.

At the plate, Nora Antonaccio and Jojo Kerwar stepped up to the plate in a big way. Antonaccio went 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI, while Kerwar went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Kerwar is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Sammi Saldutti, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Fox Lane's defeat was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-4. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only 2.25 runs. As for Harrison, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fox Lane will host Mamaroneck at 5:00 p.m. on the 27th. As for Harrison, they will be playing at home against Eastchester at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Huskies 4, the Eagles 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
