Baseball Game Preview: Signal Mountain Eagles vs. Cleveland Blue Raiders

The Signal Mountain Eagles will venture away from home to square off against the Cleveland Blue Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cleveland took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Signal Mountain, who comes in off a win.

On Monday, Signal Mountain needed a bit of extra time to put away Silverdale Academy. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 victory over the Seahawks. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Luke Smiley looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched.

At the plate, Bo Cooper was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Cleveland unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of Ringgold by a score of 4-3 on Monday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it four in a row.

Cleveland saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Owen Goglio, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Those two RBI gave Goglio a new career-high.

Signal Mountain was able to grind out a solid win over Cleveland in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 6-1. Does Signal Mountain have another victory up their sleeve, or will Cleveland turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
