Dayton is 0-10 against Churchill County since May of 2022 but things could change on Friday. Dayton will venture away from home to square off against Churchill County at 4:00 p.m. Dayton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.

Dayton is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: North Valleys, who was ranked 19th at the time (Dayton was ranked 24th). Dayton lost 9-3 to North Valleys on Tuesday. The Dust Devils just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Duke Evans was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Ryan Frank, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Churchill County came tearing into Tuesday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.2 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They skirted past the Vaqueros 11-9. That's two games straight that the Greenwave have won by exactly two runs.

Churchill County's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-4-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Dayton, their loss dropped their record down to 8-5.

Dayton suffered a grim 13-3 defeat to Churchill County in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can Dayton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
