Softball Game Preview: Jellico Blue Devils vs. Oliver Springs Bobcats

For the second straight game, Jellico will face off against Oliver Springs. The Blue Devils will square off against the Bobcats at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Jellico has given up an average of 12.2 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Jellico lost 18-3 to Oliver Springs on Thursday.

For Oliver Springs' part, Kenzie Russell made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Russell was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Oliver Springs got a massive performance out of Emmeline Patton, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. What's more, Patton posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. Kaelynn Jones was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Oliver Springs hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jellico struck out seven times.

Jellico has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Oliver Springs, the win got them back to even at 6-6.

Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Jellico has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .531. However, it's not like Oliver Springs struggles in that department as they've averaged .455. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
