Baseball Recap: Little River Academy Sets Scoring Season-High Against Shoemaker

Little River Academy barely beat Shoemaker the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Everything went the Little River Academy Bumblebees' way against the Shoemaker Wolves on Thursday as the Little River Academy Bumblebees made off with a 9-1 victory. The Bumblebees' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Jamie Chipman made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Little River Academy let Cylar Fuentes and Kaleb Quilty run wild. Fuentes scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3, while Quilty went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two RBI. Little River Academy is 2-1 when Fuentes posts two or more stolen bases, but 0-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Slade Schwake, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Little River Academy's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-5. As for Shoemaker, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-2.

Looking ahead, Little River Academy will take on Bartlett in a tournament on Friday. As for Shoemaker, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 7-1 loss against Weiss on the 27th.
