Baseball Recap: Wagoner Takes a Loss

Wagoner came into this matchup off a tough eight-run defeat last Saturday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Jay by a score of 8-6 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss Wagoner has suffered since April 11, 2024.

Wagoner got a good showing from Kolby Gardenhire, who pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. The dominant performance also gave Gardenhire a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

On the hitting side, Hunter Johnson was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Judd Edwards, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Wagoner's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Coming up, Wagoner will venture away from home to face off against Grove at 5:00 p.m. on March 10th. As for Jay, they will take on Checotah at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
