Basketball Recap: Estrella Foothills Comes Up Short

Estrella Foothills lost against Cactus two weeks ago and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Estrella Foothills Wolves took a 76-72 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cactus Cobras. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (60), the Wolves still had to take the loss.

Despite the defeat, Estrella Foothills saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Brayden Chojnowski went 10 of 18 en route to 29 points in addition to seven boards and three blocks. The dominant performance gave Chojnowski a new career-high in points. Tony Lopez was another key player, going 6 for 15 on his way to 19 points and five rebounds.

Estrella Foothills' loss dropped their record down to 10-14. As for Cactus, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-16.

Coming up, Estrella Foothills will square off against Mingus at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Estrella Foothills is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.9 points per game this season. As for Cactus, they and Deer Valley will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest having both just played. One thing working in Deer Valley's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight matchups.
