Baseball Recap: Charleston Victorious

Charleston lost to Campbell back in April of 2025, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Monday. The Bluejays skirted past the Camels 4-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bluejays.

Stewart Coon made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off ten hits (and only one walk). He has become a key player for Charleston: the team is undefeated when he posts at least eight strikeouts, but 3-9 otherwise. Coon was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Chason Kearbey was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Charleston's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-9 when he doesn't).

Charleston's win bumped their record up to 6-9. As for Campbell, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Charleston will venture away from home to square off against Cooter at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Campbell, they will head out to take on New Madrid County Central at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
