Softball Recap: Alonso Find Success

It's playoff time, and Alonso had no trouble coming through when it counted. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Strawberry Crest Chargers a 14-0 shutout on Monday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 13-9 back in February.

Sophia Gunnin was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Emily Araujo was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one double.

Alonso always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in five consecutive contests.

Alonso now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Strawberry Crest, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-14.

Looking ahead, Alonso will square off against Newsome at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wolves' pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so the Ravens' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Strawberry Crest does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
