Soccer Recap: San Clemente Takes a Loss

San Clemente was the 1-0 winner over Birmingham when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The San Clemente Tritons fell just short of the Birmingham Patriots by a score of 2-1 on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Tritons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 143rd, while the Patriots are ranked third).

San Clemente's goal came courtesy of Griffin Blair, who's now up to four this season.

This is the second loss in a row for San Clemente and nudges their season record down to 2-2-1. As for Birmingham, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-1.

San Clemente wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and has already played their next contest, a 2-1 loss against Oceanside on the 28th. As for Birmingham, they also didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 win against St. John Bosco on the 28th.
